Hospitality in Focus: Raising standards through smarter cleaning

In hospitality, cleanliness is more than a requirement. It is part of the guest experience. Across hotels and restaurants as well as transport and leisure environments, hygiene is constantly on display and shapes perception in real time.

Interclean Amsterdam will bring hospitality cleaning into focus 14–17 April 2026, showing how the sector is adapting to rising expectations, operational pressure and the growing role of technology. For professionals in hospitality and facility management, the challenge is balancing efficiency with quality. Cleaning must happen seamlessly, often in occupied spaces, while meeting higher expectations around sustainability, transparency and service delivery.

Throughout the show, visitors will discover how cleaning strategies are evolving to deliver visible, consistent results without disrupting the guest experience. Read on for some highlights that are not to be missed!

Hospitality Experience | Hall 8

A key highlight for this sector is the Hospitality Experience in Hall 8, developed in collaboration with BICSc.

This immersive area brings hospitality environments to life through full-scale hotel rooms, washrooms and kitchen settings, with half-hourly demonstrations running throughout the day. The focus is on showing how cleaning works in practice, from structured processes and workforce training to the role of digital tools in improving efficiency.

Visitors can expect a wide range of demonstrations across different environments, from guest rooms to back-of-house operations. Alongside these, there will be more interactive and engaging sessions where attendees can get involved and experience techniques first-hand.

The experience also extends into specialist areas, including AI-driven cleaning demonstrations for aircraft and trains, as well as dedicated focus on Laundry and Textile Care and Pest Control. Together, it offers a broad and practical view of how hospitality cleaning is evolving across multiple settings.

Look out for Hako GmbH | 01.101

Across hospitality environments, flexibility and consistency are becoming essential. Hako GmbH addresses this through an approach that combines autonomous and manual cleaning technologies.

Under the concept “Robotics meets Walk-behind,” the company demonstrates how robotic machines and traditional equipment can work together to create efficient, adaptable workflows. This approach is supported by fleet management tools, digital documentation and service solutions that improve visibility and streamline operations.

As Managing Director Frank Ulbricht notes, hospitality providers are under pressure to maintain high hygiene standards despite limited time and staffing constraints. Solutions must therefore “simply work,” delivering reliable results while reducing operational complexity.

Expectations are also shifting. Cleanliness is now a visible quality benchmark, with guests expecting consistently high standards throughout the day. This drives demand for quieter machines, flexible cleaning schedules and processes that can take place during normal operations without disruption.

Hako also highlights the importance of applying innovation effectively. While digital tools and automation offer clear benefits, real impact depends on how well they are integrated into daily workflows. Practical demonstration and knowledge-sharing therefore play a key role in turning innovation into measurable results.
