The innovation shortlist: Washroom edition
We’re back with a new edition of our innovation shortlist blog series, where we preview some of this year’s most relevant product segments at Interclean Amsterdam, the place where the professional cleaning industry comes together to exchange ideas, showcase innovation and set direction.
Washrooms are one of the most visible indicators of hygiene in any building. Behind this everyday space lies one of the fastest-evolving areas of professional cleaning.
Halls 10–12 at Interclean Amsterdam 2026 will showcase the latest washroom technologies, materials and systems designed for modern facilities.
For industry professionals, maintaining washroom hygiene is becoming more complex. Expectations are rising, sustainability targets are tightening, and teams must deliver reliable service in high-traffic environments.
The following examples illustrate just some of the ways our exhibitors at Interclean Amsterdam 2026 are addressing these challenges.
Lucart Professional: Circular washroom systems with measurable impact
Sustainability is becoming central to washroom hygiene design as organisations seek ways to reduce waste without compromising performance.
At Interclean Amsterdam 2026, Lucart Professional will present EcoNatural, a circular paper and dispenser system made from recycled beverage cartons. Through a specialised recycling process, cellulose fibres are transformed into tissue products while polyethylene and aluminium components are regenerated into Al.Pe.®, the material used to produce EcoNatural Flow dispensers.
As Francesca Vagelli, Brand Manager, explains, the concept represents “a real circular system, from beverage cartons to a fully integrated washroom solution.”
Lucart also highlights the measurable environmental impact of the solution. Choosing one pallet of EcoNatural hand towel rolls can avoid more than 360 kg of CO₂ emissions, save over four trees and recover more than 9,000 beverage cartons.
Visitors to the stand will be able to explore the materials and production cycle through an interactive installation demonstrating how recycled packaging becomes new washroom products.
PGP: Skin protection as part of workplace hygiene
Frequent hand washing and disinfecting can put significant strain on employee skin health, particularly in professional and industrial environments.
At Interclean Amsterdam 2026, PGP (Peter Greven Physioderm) will present integrated skin protection, cleansing and care systems designed for professional washroom and heavy-duty workplace settings. At the show, the company will exhibit together with its subsidiary Dreumex, combining complementary solutions for skin protection and powerful cleansing.
According to International Marketing Manager Stephanie Reichenberger, facility managers today face “increasing hygiene requirements, higher hand hygiene frequency and strong cost and sustainability pressure.” While Physioderm focuses on preventive occupational skin protection and care, Dreumex offers strong cleaning solutions for heavy soiling, including waterless power wipes.
The combined approach helps organisations implement structured hygiene concepts that balance effective cleansing, skin health and operational efficiency, while also reducing cross-contamination risks through controlled, single-use applications.
Excel Dryer: Touchless technology for high-traffic washrooms
Touchless technologies have become a defining feature of modern washroom design, particularly in high-traffic public and commercial facilities.
Excel Dryer will showcase its range of touchless high-speed hand dryers at Interclean Amsterdam 2026, including the XLERATOR®, XLERATOReco®, ThinAir®, and the newest innovation, XLERATORsync®.
The XLERATORsync integrates the hand dryer directly into the sink system, creating a fully touchless hand washing and drying experience. Installed alongside soap and water fixtures, the design helps keep water contained within the basin, reducing splashing and improving washroom cleanliness.
Chris DeGray, Integrated Marketing Specialist, explains that the dryers also support hygiene performance through electrostatic HEPA filtration (eHEPA®), proven to remove 99.999% of viruses and 99.97% of bacteria from the airstream.
High-speed dryers also provide measurable operational and environmental benefits. Excel Dryer reports that switching from paper towels can reduce a facility’s carbon footprint by up to 94% and operating costs by as much as 95%, while eliminating the need to refill dispensers or manage paper waste.
A shift towards integrated washroom hygiene
The innovations featured in the washroom segment reflect a broader shift across the cleaning and hygiene industry.
Manufacturers are increasingly developing integrated hygiene systems that combine sustainability, operational efficiency and user experience. Circular materials, structured skin protection programmes and touchless washroom layouts all contribute to more resilient hygiene strategies.
Interclean Amsterdam 2026 is a unique opportunity to discover the ideas shaping tomorrow’s washrooms all under one roof, from seeing working demonstrations to meeting the companies and people behind the solutions. Register now to explore the future of washroom hygiene!
