In our latest article, we catch up with Marleen Meis, a Sales Consultant for Interclean Global Events to find out more about her experience, her role and what she loves about Interclean!
Prior to joining Interclean, I worked in a variety of different places. The one constant in all of my roles there was my responsibility for managing clients and ensuring our relationship with them ran smoothly. I’ve always found great satisfaction in helping clients, making sure they can do the things they’re trying to do and making sure they have an experience that makes them come back time after time.
Working Through Difficult Times
In September 2019, I joined the Interclean Sales Team. One of the things that struck me about Interclean was the teamwork that was clearly an important part of the process. The best way to get things done is always to do them together. As I joined the team, they were in full preparation mode for the 2020 show.
My role within the team as a sales consultant is to be a first point of contact for our exhibitors as well as reaching out to customers, as and when needed. As well as that I support my sales colleagues within the organisation across multiple different countries. This was a busy time but I quickly developed a good rapport with my colleagues.
After a few months I was settling into my role and then we all know what happened next.
In March 2020, we had to close our doors, pack up our desks and head home to work there during the pandemic. Although it might seem that was a simple thing, life actually became a rollercoaster at that point.
We started reaching out to our loyal clients to begin talking to them about amending contracts and deferring dates to November 2020, a six month knock back. Having gone through that process once, we were well prepared for having to do it a second time later that year to reposition the next event in 2022.
It’s now been over 18 months since we first came home, and it will be another six months until we are reunited with our clients at Interclean in May 2022. It has been a long wait for my first Interclean show and I’m looking forward to seeing colleagues and clients. I’m happy to report that we already have 95% of the floorplan sold out, so it’s not just me that’s keen to get back to the show and business as usual!
Outside of Working Hours
I consider myself to be a customer-orientated and caring team player, who is empathetic in their work and enthusiastic for the work that comes my way.
When I’m not at work doing that, I can often be found developing my kickboxing skills or my overall fitness through cross-fit training. And when that’s over, I also like sitting on the sofa and watching Netflix.
